Session Sunday
ARRIVAL ACTIVITY
Atlético Bilbao Warm-Up Activity
Objective:
To develop dribbling, close ball control, and quick decision-making.
To improve speed and agility while maintaining ball control.
To encourage competition and fun among players.
Pitch Dimensions:
Set up a 20m x 20m grid (adjustable based on the number of players).
Place a large pile of footballs in the center of the grid.
Designate starting zones around the perimeter for each player.
Activity Instructions:
Players start on the outside of the grid.
On the coach’s signal, players race into the center to retrieve one football at a time.
They must dribble (not carry) the football back to their starting position before returning for another.
Once all footballs are collected, the player with the most footballs wins.
Progressions:
Weak Foot Challenge – Players must dribble only using their weaker foot.
1v1 Steal Mode – After collecting their first ball, players can steal from others’ areas while continuing to retrieve from the center.
Main Activity
AS Roma 1v1 Attacking vs Defending Activity
Objective:
Develop 1v1 attacking skills, including dribbling, feints, and decision-making.
Improve 1v1 defending, focusing on positioning and tackling.
Encourage transition play when defenders win possession.
Pitch Setup:
20m x 15m area with a red pole as a target.
Player 8 (feeder) positioned centrally to pass the ball.
Players 11 & 10 (attackers) take turns receiving the ball and going 1v1.
White defenders positioned opposite the attackers.
Activity Rules:
Player 8 passes the ball to Player 11, who decides which side to attack in a 1v1 against a defender.
Once Player 11 finishes (goal, shot, or defender wins), the next attacker (Player 10) receives a pass from Player 8 but must attack the opposite side.
If the white defender wins possession, they attempt to pass to the red pole to simulate a counterattack.
Progressions:
Limited Touches – Attackers can only take a maximum of 5 touches to encourage quick play.
Defender Recovery Points – If a defender wins the ball and successfully passes to the red pole, they earn an extra point, increasing defensive motivation.
Small Sided Games
RC Strasbourg 3-Team One Goal Knockout SSG Activity
Objective:
Improve quick decision-making in small-sided games (SSG).
Enhance passing, movement, and transition play.
Encourage fast attacking and defensive organization.
Pitch Dimensions:
25x20 meter grid (adjustable based on player numbers and age).
One goal placed at either side
Two teams (e.g., Red & Blue) play inside, while a third team (Yellow) acts as bounce players on the outside.
Activity Setup & Rules:
Two teams play inside while the third team (Yellow) starts as bounce players on the perimeter.
The bounce players support the team in possession and are limited to two touches.
The game is played with high intensity—whichever team scores first stays on the pitch.
The conceding team rotates out and becomes the new bounce players. The previous bounce players move inside to compete.
Play continues with quick transitions between teams.
Progressions:
One-Touch Bounce Players – To speed up play, limit bounce players to one touch, forcing quicker passing and movement.
Time Limit to Score – Teams must score within a set time (e.g., 90 seconds); if neither scores, both teams rotate out, and a new set comes in, increasing urgency.
