Play can restart from any of the back 4 positions to give defending team different problems in Defending from the Front. Halfway line is the offside line for both teams.
Key Principles:
Line of engagement from the front players - who/why/where/when.
Collective effort, co ordinated movement of the whole team with each player understanding their role in relation to their team mates - Pressure/Cover/Balance.
Defensive bock, team maintains a compact, organized shape (3 lines) and move as a single unit to reduce space fore the opposition to play through.
Strikers applying initial pressure in the opponents half to stop opposition progressing the ball, can we force them wide and trap them.
Force Errors, suffocate opponents time and space on the ball, encouraging them to make poor decisions so we can counter and score.
Retain compactness and communication.
Read trigger points for press: backward pass, poor touch etc.
